Cole Triedman

Cole was first introduced to energy transition policy through his work at the Brown University Climate and Development Lab (CDL), which has been featured in The AtlanticInsideClimate NewsE&E News, and elsewhere. He further developed a range of climate governance expertise with Global Energy Monitor, Climate Investigations Center, the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility, and Sher Edling LLP.

At E9, Cole applies expertise in policy analysis and report writing to his dedicated passion in promoting advanced distributed energy systems and more transparent approaches to utility regulation and energy governance. Cole leads E9’s monthly DER intelligence and has co-authored reports addressing cutting edge policy issues, including “Regulation of Third-Party Aggregation in MISO and SPP Footprints” in coordination with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratories and the U.S. Department of Energy. Cole acts as the Policy Director for Think Microgrid, driving thought leadership and policy engagement in the microgrid space. He also leads E9’s accountability research, which maps utility rate recovery for association dues and charitable giving, and has filed comments with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) advocating for reform in these practices.

Cole holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Sustainability in Development, from Brown University.
